With decades of combined experience, Bart Gould and Lynnel Westerman offer mindfulness meditation groups and Kripalu yoga classes, both locally in Texarkana, Texas, and virtually via Zoom.
BART holds a doctorate of ministry from Lombard College. He was ordained as a minister by the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1972 and has ministered at various UU churches in Illinois, Michigan, and Louisiana. Since 2000, he has served as minister and spiritual counselor for The Church of the Spiritual Connection. Additionally, he has taught world religion and philosophy courses as an adjunct professor and lecturer, beginning in 1980. For over 50 years, he has counseled congregants and clients, approaching the work holistically; drawing from wisdom traditions and modern neuroscience, he serves from the intersection of psychology and spirituality. He splits his time between Shreveport, Louisiana, and Texarkana, Texas.
LYNNEL discovered the life-changing practice of yoga while employed as a public educator, a career she enjoyed for 38 years. She says that teaching yoga is her “encore” career—one she has relished since 2012. A practitioner in the Kripalu tradition, she holds a 200-hour E-RYT (experienced registered yoga teacher) certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Ayurveda. She is also a 300-hour RYT from Om Yoga Journeys. Further, Lynnel is a Yoga Alliance continuing education provider and a certified Ayurveda wellness counselor. Her classes are physically gentle and spiritually rooted, offering attendees opportunities to stretch, strengthen, and balance—in both body and mind.
